What can I expect?

A fresh start

All practices are focused on balancing the body, mind and soul with intention to move forward. Using a variety of techniques and tools which directly impact our brain waves you’ll be able to enter different states of consciousness and support natural healing. This is where new thinking happens allowing to rearrange or replace the unwanted circumstances of your past, with the new circumstances that you would like to invite in.

Restore

You will be participating in daily yoga sessions to ground the body and guided into deep meditation and gong bath sessions to bring focus to the mind. Furthermore, we are partnering with a special guest practitioner from the healing arts with the aim to connect you to your innate wisdom and body intelligence. Each session lasts between 45 - 90 minutes guided by the expert retreat hosts and guest practitioners.

Reconnect

Leaving the familiar lives behind, in an environment that doesn’t remind you of who you think you are, is the most powerful way to create permanent change. During this 5-day retreat you are given an opportunity to rediscover yourself in a meaningful and lasting way.

Nourish

Designed by local chefs, our predominately plant-based meals feature fresh, local ingredients that promote lightness of body, clarity of mind, and openness of spirit. We can of course cater to any dietary requirements.

Location

The retreat is taking place at Fair Oak Farm, a private estate in Mayfield, which has won numerous awards for its sustainable tourism practices, engaging and benefiting the local community. Mayfield is set in the depths of Sussex countryside, in a protected area of outstanding natural beauty, yet only one hour from London.

Surrounded by breath-taking views of fields stretching to the horizon which make you feel at peace the moment you arrive, it’s the perfect retreat venue.

Rooted in ancient healing techniques, her sessions are aimed at helping manage the modern challenges of the 21st century.  Tam hosts sound meditation sessions internationally, both in-person and online.

Tam is usually found alongside Amanda at their co-curated retreats, however this time around she won’t be able to be hosting herself as she’s expecting to give birth at the time of New Beginnings. Be rest assured that you will be only in the best hands with one of our guest practitioners. Everything else about New Beginnings stays the same as you would expect from our previous retreats.

Meet Amanda

Amanda Denton has been on a varied and colourful journey of healing and self-discovery. It started over 30 years ago when she qualified as an aromatherapist, body worker and subsequently a yoga teacher.

Her trainings include Hatha, Yogasana, Kundalini, and Yin. She teaches yoga as “a breathing, moving meditation, an uninterrupted flow of mindfulness and concentration”. She shares all of her own yoga and healing experiences through her teaching, paying attention to alignment, offering sensitive adjustments, encouraging and supporting the individual, to become self-aware and take responsibility for their actions both on and off of the mat.

An avid and passionate gong player she has more recently turned her attention to sound meditation and somatic movement, seeking a more nurturing and supportive practise, where she creates a safe space for healing and transformation to take place.

Guest practitioner David Ramcharran

aka The Lost Yoga Boy

Meet David

Dharma Yoga Teacher and Body Worker

David Ramcharran’s first memory of yoga was when his father did a headstand and he clambered next to him in his diaper trying to imitate him. For many years, he practiced with his father who has never attended any studio classes and has had a steady daily self-practice to this day.

After many years of competitive running for school and college, David developed many injuries from not stretching properly. His physiotherapist at the time suggested that he try hot yoga, which he did for a few years until he yearned for a more spiritual side to the practice. In 2012, he was introduced to dharma yoga which is based on a system of classical Hatha-Raja Yoga which is a devotional practice emphasising good health, a clear mind and a kind heart.

David went on to complete his first teacher training at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala, South India and then travelled to New York where he completed his 500-hour advanced teacher training in dharma yoga with the legendary Sri Dharma Mittra. The year 2015 was a defining one for David, when he left his job in the city to focus on teaching yoga and helping others find the amazing benefits of having a regular yoga practice.

David  has since completed several trainings in yoga, pranayama and meditation to further develop his practice and improve his knowledge of how the body works. He is also a bodyworker and a certified advanced Thai massage therapist. He incorporates some elements of Thai massage in his teaching style, especially when adjusting and helping students achieve some of the more challenging asanas.

At the beginning  of 2019 David continued to progress on his personal yoga journey to finesse and develop his skills, he has recently completed his 800 hour dharma yoga training which encompasses very advanced yoga asana, psychic development and yoga nidra. Recently he also completed his yin yoga and the elements training. David has racked up nearly 1000 hours of yoga and well-being training and we’re incredibly excited to have him on board at this year’s New Beginnings retreat.

He believes that yoga is beneficial for all, no matter how old you are and that the only limitations are the ones we set for ourselves.\
